Uruma City Kaichu Road Fireworks (Uruma Kaichu-dōro Hanabi)

Uruma · Okinawa · Okinawa

Uruma City's fireworks festival is uniquely staged to take advantage of the Kaichu Road, a scenic 4.7-kilometre causeway connecting the mainland to Henza, Miyagi, Ikei, and Hamahiga islands across the Katsuren Peninsula bay. Launch sites positioned along the causeway and on the small islands create a 360-degree fireworks experience for viewers on the water and along the bridge, with shells bursting at multiple points across the horizon. The surrounding shallow tidal flats glow with reflected colour, and the event often coincides with sea-fishing and marine activity in the area. Ikei Island's beach is a popular viewing spot where visitors combine an evening swim with fireworks watching.
