Tsushima Tenno Matsuri at Tsushima Shrine, held on the last Saturday and Sunday of July, is known as one of the Three Great Festivals of Owari and has been performed for over 600 years. On the opening night (Yoi Matsuri), five large maruboné floats adorned with 365 lanterns—representing the days of the year—glide slowly across the river in near silence, creating an ethereal reflection on the dark water. The following day's Asa Matsuri features colourful floats carrying musicians in formal court costume parading through the town.
