Harimaya-bashi, Kochi's most famous landmark, sits at the heart of a reconstructed red-lacquered bridge and canal district that transforms each spring into a ribbon of pale pink blossoms. The surrounding Densha-dōri tram boulevard and adjacent Otesuji covered arcade area are festooned with blossom, making the whole central neighbourhood feel like a hanami venue. Street-level cherry trees overhanging the tram tracks create one of Shikoku's most photographed urban spring scenes. Local cafés and restaurants offer special sakura menus throughout the season.
