Takato Castle Ruins Park is celebrated nationwide for its 1,500-plus Takato Kohigan cherry trees, a rare variety producing smaller, vivid pink blossoms. Elevated above the Ina Valley, the ruins offer sweeping views of the blooms against the Southern Alps backdrop. The site is considered one of Japan's three greatest cherry blossom spots, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each spring. Evening illuminations extend the hanami experience well after sunset.
