Hitome Senbonzakura, meaning 'a thousand cherry trees visible at a glance,' is a beloved springtime landmark along the Shiroishi River in Miyagi Prefecture. Approximately 1,200 Somei Yoshino trees line both banks for roughly 8 kilometres, creating a breathtaking tunnel of blossoms when viewed along the embankment. The nearby Funaoka Castle ruins provide an elevated viewpoint over the entire blossom corridor. The area is easily accessible from the Tohoku Shinkansen and is especially popular for photography at dawn when mist rises from the river.
