The Lake Shikotsu Fireworks display is launched over the crystalline waters of Japan's second-deepest lake, set within Shikotsu-Toya National Park south of Sapporo. The display is best experienced as part of an overnight stay at one of the lakeside onsen ryokan, where guests can soak in outdoor hot spring baths while watching the shells reflect in the remarkably clear blue lake water. Around 2,000 shells are fired, with starmine sequences providing long reflections across the lake surface.
