Every year on the evening of August 5th, the Sendai Tanabata Fireworks Festival lights up the sky above the Hirose River as a grand prelude to the Tanabata decorations unveiled the following day. Approximately 16,000 fireworks are launched over roughly 70 minutes, attracting over 200,000 viewers who line the riverbanks and bridges. The display features large-scale peonies, willows, and creative color combinations synchronized to music at certain viewing areas.
