Sapporo Snow Festival (Sapporo Yuki Matsuri)

Sapporo · Hokkaido · Hokkaido

Held annually since 1950, the Sapporo Snow Festival draws around two million visitors over seven days. Giant snow sculptures — some several storeys tall — depict world landmarks, anime characters and abstract art across three main sites: Odori, Susukino and Tsudome. International teams compete in a snow sculpture contest, and illuminations keep the park glowing after dark.
