Running for roughly six weeks each summer, the Sapporo Odori Beer Garden lines Odori Park's broad central boulevard with beer gardens hosted by Sapporo, Kirin, Suntory, Asahi and international brewers. Thousands of wooden benches fill nightly with locals and tourists enjoying Hokkaido's famously fresh corn, lamb barbecue (jingisukan) and cold draft beers under the open sky. The event draws more than two million visitors each season and is considered the unofficial start of Hokkaido's short but vibrant summer.
