The Sapporo Nishi-ku Fireworks Festival is a popular neighbourhood celebration held at Maeda Park (前田公園) in the Nishi ward of Sapporo each late July. Around 2,000 fireworks shells are launched over the course of the evening, accompanied by lively food stalls selling Hokkaido specialities such as grilled corn, soup curry snacks, and soft-serve ice cream. The event draws tens of thousands of local families and visitors, offering an authentic, non-touristy summer festival experience away from the city centre.
