Ruriko-ji Temple houses one of Japan's finest five-storey pagodas, a National Treasure dating to 1442, which becomes especially magical surrounded by autumn foliage. The surrounding Kōzan Park fills with red, orange, and yellow maples each November, drawing photographers and travellers alike. Evening illumination events occasionally light the pagoda against the dark autumn sky, creating a breathtaking reflection in the adjacent pond.
