PL Hanabi Geijutsu (Perfect Liberty Fireworks Art) is held on the grounds of the PL Kyodan religious organisation in Tondabayashi, Osaka, and is widely regarded as the largest and most spectacular fireworks display in Japan. Over 120,000 shells are fired in just one hour, creating an almost continuous canopy of light that can be seen across much of the Kinki region. The event is treated as both a religious ceremony and an artistic performance, with each sequence meticulously choreographed. Grandstand tickets and hillside viewing areas fill up extremely quickly, and visitors are advised to book accommodation and transport months in advance.
