Ōzuchidani in Kumakogen-cho, the highest village in Ehime Prefecture, is renowned as one of the finest autumn foliage valleys in western Shikoku. Thousands of wild maple trees, including yamamomiji and kaede varieties, coat the valley in brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows from late October. A narrow winding road and walking paths follow the stream through the gorge, offering close-up views of the dense canopy. The highland location ensures earlier and more vibrant colour than coastal spots in the prefecture.
