Osaka Castle Park Cherry Blossom Viewing (大阪城公園花見)

Osaka · Osaka · Kansai

Osaka Castle Park encompasses roughly 106 hectares of gardens, moats, and tree-lined paths surrounding the reconstructed 16th-century Osaka Castle, and its 3,000-plus cherry trees make it the city's most celebrated hanami destination. The Nishi-no-maru Garden within the park concentrates some 300 trees and sells ticketed entry during bloom season, offering unobstructed views of the castle tower framed by blossoms. The park's open lawns and moat promenades fill with blue-tarp picnic parties from morning to night, and food and drink stalls create a lively matsuri-like atmosphere. Evening illumination of both the castle and the cherry trees makes after-dark hanami a particularly dramatic experience here.
