Onuma Quasi-National Park Cherry Blossoms (大沼国定公園の桜)

Nanae · Hokkaido · Hokkaido

Onuma Quasi-National Park, located roughly 20 km north of Hakodate, centres on three interconnected lakes — Onuma, Konuma, and Junsainuma — set against the dramatic silhouette of the active stratovolcano Mount Komagatake. Each spring the lake shores are decorated with cherry trees whose reflections shimmer on the still water, creating spectacular photo opportunities. Visitors can rent rowboats or take sightseeing cruises to appreciate the blossom-framed volcanic scenery from the water. The park's cycling paths through islet-dotted lake margins are especially popular during hanami season.
