The Omuro-zakura at Ninna-ji Temple are a unique variety of dwarf cherry tree that bloom later than most Kyoto sakura, typically peaking in mid-April and offering a second chance to enjoy hanami. Because the trees grow only 2–3 metres tall, visitors can view the blossoms eye-to-eye rather than looking up, creating an intimate and enchanting experience. The five-storey pagoda and the Niō Gate of this UNESCO World Heritage temple provide a stunning photographic setting. The temple charges a small fee for the inner garden during bloom season.
