Designated a national scenic spot, Tsuruma Park in central Nagoya was established in 1909 and remains the city's premier hanami destination. More than 900 cherry trees, predominantly Somei Yoshino, line its formal promenades, ponds, and rose gardens. The park's Meiji-era European landscape design adds an elegant setting to the floral spectacle. During peak bloom, the park fills with office workers, families, and tourists enjoying picnics, and the cherry trees are illuminated nightly until around 10 pm.
