Nebuta no Ie Warasse is a striking crimson-facade museum on Aomori Port that allows visitors to experience the Aomori Nebuta festival year-round. Inside, five full-scale illuminated Nebuta floats — massive paper-and-wire sculptures depicting samurai, mythological figures and kabuki characters — are displayed in their glowing glory alongside interactive exhibits on the craft techniques and history of the festival. The museum opened in 2011 and has become an anchor of Aomori's cultural tourism scene. Visitors can also try on traditional haneto dancer costumes for photographs.
