Nakijin Castle Ruins Cherry Blossom Festival (Nakijin-jō Sakura Matsuri)

Nakijin · Okinawa · Okinawa

Nakijin Castle Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Okinawa, hosts its own cherry blossom festival each January alongside the Nago event, as the same Kanhizakura variety blooms across the region. Roughly 200 cherry trees grow along the ancient gusuku stone walls, creating a stunning contrast of pink petals against pale coral-limestone ramparts. Evening illuminations allow visitors to photograph the blossoms glowing against the night sky. The site's elevated position also provides sweeping views across the East China Sea.
