Kokusai-dori — Naha's famous 'International Street' — and the adjacent Tsuboya Yachimun-dori pottery lane form the cultural heart of Okinawa's capital, lined with workshops selling bingata textiles, Ryukyuan lacquerware, awamori distilleries and yachimun ceramics. Autumn's pleasant temperatures and post-typhoon clear skies make this the ideal season for a leisurely craft-focused walking tour, with many workshops open for hands-on dyeing and pottery experiences. The nearby Makishi Public Market is also in prime form with autumn island produce.
