The Nagahama Fireworks Festival is held along the northern shore of Lake Hamana — a vast brackish lagoon connecting to the Pacific — in the Nagahama district of Hamamatsu City. Around 8,000 to 10,000 shells are launched over the lagoon, where the broad, flat water surface creates exceptional reflections visible from the surrounding hillside parks. The festival coincides with local eel-farming and aquaculture celebrations, and vendors line the shore selling unagi (eel) dishes for which the Hamana Lake region is nationally famous. The evening sky over Enshunada provides a pastel-coloured sunset before the fireworks begin.
