The Muroran Port Fireworks Festival takes place over the iconic Muroran harbour each August, with shells fired from the waterfront to illuminate a skyline uniquely framed by the steelworks and the Hakucho Ohashi suspension bridge. Over 3,000 fireworks are launched during the display, which is widely regarded as one of Hokkaido's most visually striking due to the industrial backdrop. The surrounding White Swan Bridge is illuminated in colour to coincide with the event. Viewing areas are set up along the Chikko Wharf promenade, and local vendors sell seafood dishes fresh from Muroran's fishing fleet.
