Held annually at Hirara Port on Miyakojima Island, this fireworks festival is the most prominent pyrotechnic event in the Miyako Island group. Hundreds of shells illuminate the night sky above the coral-fringed harbour, with the flat island geography providing unobstructed 360-degree visibility. The festival is timed to coincide with the Miyakojima Harvest Festival (Miyako Shuraku Matsuri), creating a multi-day cultural celebration. Due to the island's compact size, nearly every point in Hirara city offers a good vantage point for the display.
