Minoo Park, designated a quasi-national park in Osaka's northern suburbs, is famous for its 2.7-kilometre valley trail lined with approximately 10,000 maple trees that produce a spectacular tunnel of red and orange foliage each autumn. The path follows the Minoo River upstream to a 33-metre waterfall — one of the Osaka area's most beloved natural landmarks — framing the cascade with brilliant autumn colour. Maple-leaf tempura, a unique 1,300-year-old local delicacy fried in sweet batter, is sold by roadside vendors along the trail. The area is easily reached from central Osaka via the Hankyu Minoo Line.
