松山まつり野球拳おどり花火 (Matsuyama Festival Fireworks)

Matsuyama · Ehime · Shikoku

The Matsuyama Matsuri, held over three days in August, is Ehime Prefecture's largest summer festival and concludes with a major fireworks display over the Ishite River and surrounding city areas. The festival is famous for its unique Yakyu-ken Odori (baseball-themed dance), in which thousands of participants parade through the streets before the evening fireworks finale. The combination of folk dance, food markets, and a sky lit with colour makes this a quintessential Shikoku summer experience.
