Marunouchi Illumination is one of Tokyo's most elegant winter events, lining the 1.2-kilometre Nakadori Avenue between Tokyo Station and Hibiya with 150 zelkova trees draped in warm champagne-gold LEDs. The sophisticated palette was chosen in consultation with European lighting designers, creating a refined atmosphere distinct from more colourful rival events. The boulevard is closed to vehicles on weekend evenings, allowing crowds to stroll freely between flagship stores, galleries, and restaurants. A giant illuminated Christmas tree at the Marunouchi Building serves as the iconic centrepiece and popular photo spot.
