Godaisan Kōen Cherry Blossom Viewing

Kochi · Kochi · Shikoku

Godaisan Park sits atop 145-metre Mount Godaisan on the eastern edge of Kochi city, where hundreds of cherry trees burst into bloom each spring. Visitors walk flower-lined paths past the Makino Botanical Garden entrance and the five-storey pagoda of Chikurin-ji, one of the 88 temples of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. The panoramic view of the Pacific coastline framed by pink blossoms makes it one of Kochi's most photographed spring spots. Evening illuminations extend hanami well after sunset during peak bloom.
