During the Tenshochi Cherry Blossom Festival, traditional wooden flat-bottomed boats carry passengers along the Kitakami River directly beneath the overhanging sakura canopy, offering a unique water-level perspective of the blossoms. The 20-minute guided drift provides unobstructed views of both the riverbank trees and the snow-capped Kitakami Mountains in the distance. Trained oarsmen narrate the park's history and point out the oldest and most spectacular individual trees. This experience is one of the few in Tohoku that allows hanami viewing from the water, creating memorable reflective photographs.
