The neighbouring Toki-no-Kane bell tower is also lit up, and evening crowds enjoy the contrast of ancient architecture and modern seasonal lighting. The event encourages visitors to explore Kawagoe's sweet-potato confectionery shops, which remain open late during the illumination period.
