Set along the Edogawa River in Katsushika Ward, this noryo (river-cooling) festival celebrates the traditional Edo-era custom of escaping summer heat by the water. Around 7,000 fireworks illuminate the sky in a tightly packed programme, with the low-lying launches creating vivid reflections on the river surface. The surrounding shitamachi streetscape and lantern-lit stalls lend the event a nostalgic, old Tokyo atmosphere.
