Jozankei Onsen sits in a narrow river valley on the southern edge of Sapporo, making it one of the most accessible koyo destinations in all of Hokkaido. Japanese maple, Japanese rowan, and birch trees line the Toyohira River banks, turning every bridge and riverside promenade into a natural gallery. The Futami Suspension Bridge and Taisho-no-Taki waterfall are classic foreground subjects for autumn photography. Many of the traditional ryokan offer foliage-view rooms and seasonal kaiseki menus featuring local Hokkaido produce.
