Koiwai Farm Autumn Harvest & Foliage

Shizukuishi · Iwate · Tohoku

Koiwai Farm, established in 1891 and still one of Japan's largest private farms at 3,000 hectares, offers an exceptional autumn experience with Mt. Iwate's volcanic cone looming above orchards and pastures blazing in colour. October brings apple and pear harvests alongside vivid foliage across the farm's deciduous woodland edges, and visitors can participate in fruit-picking, horse-riding, and cheese-tasting activities. The old Western-style farm buildings and vast open meadows give the property a distinctive pastoral character unique in Tohoku. Special autumn event weekends feature local food stalls showcasing Iwate's wagyu beef, dairy, and craft cider.
