The Itabashi Fireworks Festival is co-hosted with Toda City in Saitama and is recognised as one of the top fireworks competitions in the Kanto region. Roughly 12,000 fireworks are launched, and the event features a formal competitive fireworks segment judged by expert pyrotechnicians. The wide floodplain of the Arakawa River allows enormous star-mine bursts to unfurl at low altitudes, thrilling the estimated 470,000 spectators.
