Launched in 1977 as a symbol of Hiroshima's post-war rebirth and hope, the Flower Festival takes place along the 1.2-km Peace Boulevard during Golden Week. The event features a grand parade of floats, dance troupes, and marching bands, plus dozens of outdoor stages hosting J-pop, world music, and folk performances. Food stalls from around Japan and overseas line the boulevard, making it one of western Japan's largest and most inclusive public celebrations.
