Hirosaki Park's inner moat becomes a magical passage during peak bloom, when fallen cherry petals form a dense pink carpet on the water's surface known as hanaikada. Renting a rowboat and gliding beneath the overhanging branches of 2,600 cherry trees is considered one of the most iconic hanami experiences in all of Japan. The juxtaposition of the feudal castle tower, stone walls, and blossoming trees creates endlessly photogenic compositions. Boat rentals are available daily during the blossom season from the park's boathouse on a first-come, first-served basis.
