This hands-on spring workshop invites guests to learn the art of assembling a traditional hanami bento box under the guidance of a local Sendai culinary instructor, using Tohoku regional ingredients such as nanbu wheat, zunda (edamame paste), and pickled mountain vegetables. After a 90-minute kitchen session, participants carry their freshly made bentos to nearby Nishi Park (Nishikoen), one of Sendai's top cherry blossom venues with over 700 trees, for an authentic al-fresco picnic beneath the blossoms. The experience is available in English and suitable for all ages, making it an ideal family or group activity. Seasonal wagashi sweet-making is included as a dessert component.
