Festival Fireworks Summer · Late July

Furano Fireworks Festival (富良野花火大会)

Furano · Hokkaido · Hokkaido

The Furano Fireworks Festival is held in late July at the peak of the lavender season, launching colourful shells above the iconic patchwork farmland that makes Furano one of Hokkaido's most celebrated destinations. The display is best viewed from the hillside fields near Farm Tomita and the Furano city athletic park, where the purple lavender rows glow under the burst of lights overhead. Around 2,500 shells are fired in sequences designed to complement the pastoral landscape. The event draws visitors from across Japan and abroad who combine the fireworks with farm tours, lavender picking, and local wine tasting.
