Furano Lavender Festival

Furano · Hokkaido · Hokkaido

Furano is synonymous with lavender in Japan, and its peak bloom in July draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Tokachi Hills. Farm Tomita, the most celebrated of the area's flower farms, has been cultivating lavender since 1958 and offers a patchwork of colourful flower fields, lavender soft-serve ice cream, and dried flower products. The broader Furano-Biei area hosts a sprawling festival atmosphere with roadside stalls, photography tours, and cycling routes through the blossoming countryside. Visitors can also ride the seasonal Lavender Express train from Sapporo directly to the fields.
