The historic ruins of Fukuoka Castle (Maizuru Park) host one of Kyushu's most atmospheric night hanami events, with more than 1,300 cherry trees lit by warm spotlights against the ancient stone walls and turrets. The illumination event, typically running for two weeks during peak bloom, draws tens of thousands of visitors who stroll the ramparts and inner grounds under a canopy of glowing pink blossoms. Food and drink stalls remain open into the evening, creating a festive yozakura (night cherry blossom) atmosphere. The site also offers daytime viewing with views toward Hakata Bay.
