On Saturday evenings from late December through February, short but brilliant fireworks displays are launched from the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, creating a vivid contrast against the dark winter sky and the snow-covered silhouette of Mt. Fuji. The displays are compact at around ten minutes but are perfectly framed for photographers seeking the classic Fuji reflection shot on still winter nights. The lakeside promenade is lined with illuminated trees during this period, extending the visual spectacle. Nearby onsen ryokan offer window-seat or open-air bath views of both the fireworks and the mountain.
