Chidorigafuchi is a 700-metre stretch of the Imperial Palace's outer moat lined with approximately 260 cherry trees that arch dramatically over the water. Rowing boats are available for hire from the Chidorigafuchi Boat House, allowing visitors to drift under a canopy of pink and white blossoms for a uniquely intimate hanami experience. The adjacent Chidorigafuchi Ryokudo promenade is also one of Tokyo's most photographed sakura walking routes. Evening illuminations from late March transform the moat into a luminous pink mirror.
