The open-air basement plaza of the Caretta Shiodome shopping complex in Shiodome becomes one of Tokyo's most theatrical winter spectacles each year, as its canyon-shaped courtyard is draped with hundreds of thousands of blue and white LED lights. A synchronised light-and-music show plays every 20–30 minutes after dark, choreographing the displays to classical and festive music for dramatic effect. The show is completely free to watch and runs until mid-February, making it one of the longest-running winter illuminations in Tokyo. Its unique sunken architecture creates an immersive enclosed glow unlike any flat park display.
