Cape Hedo, the dramatic northernmost tip of Okinawa's main island, sits within Yanbaru National Park and is fringed by wild kanhizakura trees that bloom in late January and February. Small-group guided sunrise hikes lead participants along coastal trails through subtropical forest emerging into blossom-lined clifftop viewpoints as the sun climbs over the Pacific. The combination of cherry blossoms, rugged coral cliffs and ocean panoramas creates a scene unlike any other in Japan. Tours typically depart before dawn from Nago and include a warm Okinawan breakfast at a local establishment on the return journey.
