Cape Hedo is the northernmost point of Okinawa's main island, where dramatic limestone cliffs drop into the meeting point of the East China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Autumn's reduced humidity and cooler temperatures make it the best season to trek the coastal headland trails, with visibility often extending as far as Yoron Island in Kagoshima Prefecture. The surrounding subtropical forest within Yanbaru National Park shows subtle seasonal colour, and whale migration begins offshore in November.
